Three Huskers Qualify For NCAA Track And Field Nationals

Three Nebraska track and field athletes punched their tickets to the national championships in the first day of the NCAA West Regional in Eugene, Oregon yesterday. Freshman long jumper Mara Griva, who has the best long jump in the country this spring, qualified in her best event and will try to qualify in the triple jump today. It will be her first NCAA National Championship, and it will be Nicholas Gordon’s fourth. The senior qualified in the men’s long jump. Adam Wolkins also qualified in the javelin. Six other Huskers moved into event finals to be held today, including four in the men’s 400 meter hurdles: Adam Dailey, Eric Lund, Jodi-Rae Blackwood and Miles Ukaoma. Ellie Grooters qualified for the women’s 400 meter finals, and Ashley Miller qualified for the final in the 1500 meters. The national championships are in Des Moines in June.
