Chadron police say a man suffered extensive injuries in a Fourth of July incident involving fireworks. 45-year-old Alan Curd, of Chadron, loaded an artillery shell into a fireworks tube upside down and, when lit, the tube exploded in his hand. Police say Curd suffered injuries to his right hand and lower leg. He was taken to a Colorado hospital for treatment. Details of his condition weren’t available. Police say an investigation showed Curd had been drinking at the time of the explosion.
