Broncos Sign TE Fells, Re-Sign DT Thomas

The Denver Broncos signed a free agent tight end yesterday to supplement two returning veterans and a pair of rookies drafted at the position. Daniel Fells, who played his first three seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Broncos. Fells caught 41 passes and scored two touchdowns last season in his most productive season as a pro. He joins rookies Julius Thomas and Virgil Green and veterans Dan Gronkowski and Richard Quinn as tight ends on the roster. Former Carolina Panthers tight end Dante Rosario had reportedly agreed to terms with the Broncos as well, but the signing of Fells may change Rosario’s decision. The Broncos also shored up their defensive line by re-signing defensive tackle Marcus Thomas. Thomas has played in all 48 games he’s spent with the Broncos the last four seasons.
