The Colorado Rockies snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Washington Nationals at Coors Field last night. Leading the way offensively for the Rockies was Troy Tulowitzki, who banged out three hits, including his 21st home run of the season. The Rockies trailed 1-0 after the first inning but tied the game in the fourth inning and took the lead for good in the fifth on Eric Young Jr’s RBI single. A three-run eighth inning provided what proved to be necessary insurance after Washington scored twice in the ninth. Rockies starting pitcher Esmil Rogers earned his fifth victory of the season, allowing one run in five and two thirds innings and striking out six. The Rockies and Nationals play game two of their four-game series tonight in Denver. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with pregame coverage at 7:05 and the first pitch at 7:40.
