The Colorado Rockies’ epic Sunday futility continues. The Rockies lost to the Washington Nationals 3-2 at Coors Field yesterday afternoon, their sixteenth consecutive Sunday loss. The Rockies had battled back from two runs down with two runs in the seventh inning, with Ty Wigginton’s RBI single tying the game. But Matt Belisle gave up a run in the top of the eighth inning that would prove to be the game winner for Washington. Rockies starting pitcher Aaron Cook threw six and two thirds strong innings, allowing just two runswhile striking out four, but had to settle for a no-decision. The loss gives the Rockies a four-game split with the Nationals and a 2-5 homestand record. They hit the road tonight to start a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with pregame coverage at 5:30 and the first pitch at 6:10.
