Rox Fall To D-Backs Again

The Colorado Rockies continue to be dominated by the Arizona Diamondbacks. They lost for the seventh time in the last eight meetings against the NL West leaders, falling 9-4 last night in Phoenix. The Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Todd Helton RBI single, but Aaron Cook couldn’t make that stand up as he allowed six runs on seven hits in four and two-thirds innings to take the loss. The Rockies managed 13 hits, just one fewer than the D-Backs, but failed to turn them into runs. Dexter Fowler provided a late highlight for the Rockies by hitting his first home run of the season, a solo blast in the ninth. The Rockies will try and avoid a series sweep in tonight’s finale. Esmil Rogers will take the mound for Colorado, opposing Arizona’s Josh Collmenter. First pitch is set for 8:40.

North Platte man arrested in attack on EMTs

Carlos Charging Elk

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) – Police say a 19- year-old man was captured by two emergency medical technicians who had been lured by a false call to a North Platte home. The North Platte Telegraph reports that Carlos Charging Elk was arrested Sunday night. A medical team was dispatched to the home a little before 8 p.m. to answer a call about a woman who had cut herself. Two of the EMTs entered the home. Police Lt. Rich Thompson says Charging Elk locked the door behind them and threatened them. The third EMT called for police help. Thompson says Charging Elk attacked the EMTs but dropped his knife. The EMTs grabbed him, unlocked the door and were dragging him outside when officers arrived. Charging Elk remained in jail Tuesday. Court records don’t list his attorney.
