Rockies Lose, Settle For Series Split in Cincinnati
The Colorado Rockies once again squandered a chance to win a road series, losing in a Thursday matinee 2-1 to the Cincinnati Reds. The loss was Colorado’s second straight after taking the first two in the four-game set. After the Reds scored twice in the first inning, Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin settled in and pitched a complete game, striking out nine, but got only Seth Smith’s ninth-inning solo home run in support. The Rockies have now lost in eight of Chacin’s last nine starts. Aside from Smith’s blast, the Rockies managed just four hits on the afternoon, including two from Mark Ellis. The Rockies continue their road trip by heading to St. Louis to begin a three-game series against the Cardinals tonight. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action from Busch Stadium, with pregame coverage at 6:30 and first pitch at 7:15.
