Amy Winehouse’s father believes the singer died because she was trying to save her life.

On Anderson Cooper’s new daytime talk show, Mitch Winehouse says his daughter may have suffered an overdose from a powerful anti-anxiety drug and suffered a seizure during detox. “Everything Amy did, she did to excess. She drank to excess and did detox to excess.”

The cause of death will be determined after an official inquest.

No illegal drugs were reportedly found in Amy’s system after she died in July.
