Logan Ehlers, a left-handed pitcher from Nebraska City who was an eighth-round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays out of high school and pitched 29.1 innings for the Huskers in his freshman season last year, has left the Huskers baseball program. Husker baseball coach Darin Erstad released the following statement.
“We wish Logan nothing but the best of luck in the future. We will continue to support him in any way we can.”
Ehlers was 1-3 with a 4.30 ERA in a tumultuous freshman season, which included a 34 game suspension by the NCAA because his adviser made illegal contact with the Blue Jays during contract negotiations. The Huskers had just opened up fall practice last week.
