Broncos Could Announce Starting Quarterback Today (UPDATE: It’s Tebow)

The Denver Broncos may announce as soon as today whether Tim Tebow will take the reins for good as the team’s starting quarterback. Public opinion has always favored Tebow, who nearly brought the Broncos back from a 16 point deficit in an eventual 29-24 loss to San Diego on Sunday. Tebow rushed for a touchdown and passed for another in the second half after taking over for an ineffective Kyle Orton. John Fox wouldn’t commit to a change on the depth chart immediately after the game, but may make an announcement after practice today. The Broncos made a personnel move yesterday, placing defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson on injured reserve and signing fullback Quinn Johnson. The Broncos are off this week, and resume their schedule with a game against the winless Dolphins in Miami next Sunday.

UPDATE 10:15 AM: At a player’s meeting this morning, the Broncos announced that Tim Tebow would be the team’s starting quarterback for their next game at Miami.
