The Sutherland Lady Sailors and Brady Lady Eagles are headed to the state volleyball tournament after district championship triumphs last night. For the Lady Sailors, it’s a return engagement, as they reached the state tourney last season. They powered past Twin Loup in four sets, 25-16, 25-13, 19-25, 25-11, in the D1-6 district final. The Lady Eagles fell one win shy of state last year, but didn’t miss their chance this time around. They routed Hayes Center in three sets, 25-23, 25-11, 25-12, in the D2-5 district final. For Brady, it’s their third ever trip to state volleyball tournament, and their first since 1997. They have a 25-4 record. Sutherland makes their ninth ever trip to state. They will trek to Grand Island with a 21-11 record. The state volleyball tournament begins next Thursday.
