Husker Women Sign Top-100 Ohio Guard

The early signing period for college basketball began yesterday, and the Husker women’s basketball team made a big splash. The Huskers received a National Letter of Intent from Rachel Theriot, a 6-foot point guard from Midpark High School in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Theriot is a two-time All-Ohio selection entering her senior year and is ranked by ESPN as a top 100 player and top 20 point guard in the country. She averaged 12.7 points per game in her junior season. Theriot chose Nebraska over offers from Ohio State, Illinois, and Michigan State, among other schools. The Husker women went 2-0 in their exhibition season with wins over Pittsburg State and Nebraska-Kearney. They open their regular season Saturday as they host Arkansas-Pine Bluff, with tip off scheduled for 3:05.
