Nebraska’s football coaching staff may lose a Pelini brother. CBS Sports reported last night that Husker defensive coordinator Carl Pelini is expected to take the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic University. ESPN’s Joe Schad also reported last night that the school and Pelini had made a verbal agreement. The 46-year old Pelini has served as defensive coordinator under brother Bo since he took the head job at Nebraska in 2008. Carl Pelini hasn’t been a head coach since he was at Austintown Fitch High School in Ohio in 2002. The Florida Atlantic Owls are 1-10 heading into their final game this Saturday. Their head coach, Howard Schnellenberger, is retiring at the end of the year. The Owls play in the Sun Belt Conference and has played just nine years of Division I football, all of them under Schnellenberger.
