Papuchis Promoted To D-Coordinator, Iowa’s Kaczenski Comes To Lincoln

What had been speculated all week long was finally confirmed yesterday by Huskers head coach Bo Pelini. Current defensive line coach and special teams coordinator John Papuchis will be promoted to fill the defensive coordinator spot vacated by the departed Carl Pelini. Replacing Papuchis as the defensive line coach will be Rick Kaczenski, who spent the last five seasons in the same role at Iowa. Kaczenski is expected to join the Huskers staff for their trip to the Capital One Bowl on January 2nd. Also joining the Huskers for their bowl game will be starting center Mike Caputo. Pelini announced yesterday that he would permit Caputo to play after the senior pled guilty to reckless driving, stemming from an incident on December 11th. Pelini said that Caputo would be punished internally.
