Patriots Win AFC Title; Woodhead to Play in Super Bowl

One of North Platte’s own is headed to the Super Bowl. The New England Patriots defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in the AFC Championship Game yesterday, meaning local hero Danny Woodhead will play in the biggest game of them all. Woodhead rushed for 18 yards on six carries and caught one pass for seven yards in helping the Patriots reach their first Super Bowl in four years and their seventh in franchise history. The former North Platte Bulldog and Chadron State standout has reached the postseason in all three of his NFL seasons, but fell short of the ultimate goal as a member of the New York Jets in 2010 and with the Patriots last season. The Patriots will take on the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
