Huskers Get Walk-On Commitment From In-State QB, First Commit For 2013

The Nebraska football program was thin at the quarterback position in the 2011 season. Yesterday, they picked up one of the best in-state QBs as a walk-on for next season. Ryker Fyfe, who helped lead Grand Island to the state quarterfinals last season, chose the opportunity to walk on with the Huskers over a full-ride offer from Nebraska-Kearney. Fyfe was the first-team All-Nebraska quarterback selected by the Omaha World-Herald. He threw for over 1900 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 14 scores for the Islanders last year. The Huskers also got their first commitment for their recruiting class of 2013 last night. Tre’vell Dixon, from Baldwin, Louisiana, gave his verbal commitment to Nebraska. Dixon projects as a defensive back, but also plays quarterback for his high school team.
