Letter to The Post: Tea Party Gone Wild

Submitted by Wallace:
OK I’m lost. I always liked the majority of the Tea Party platform, they had a message and stood by it. But what gives in Iowa?
They went GaGa for Bachmann, then jumped ship and went with Perry, that infatuation went south and they warmed up to Herman Cain, that didn’t last long then they sprinted over to Newt, when he was exposed they went to the last man standing Santorum.
Each of these candidates has flaws, and different flaws from the other, ranging from being a progressive, cheating on a spouse, embracing the hoax of global warming, expanding medicare to doubling the dept of education.
Were they willing to over look these non-Conservative glitches in these candidates, if so then just how Conservative of a candidate were they truly looking for?
That’s a lot of non-Conservatism to overlook.

(OPINION) Deja Vu

By John Fedele
The Iowa Caucus proves the public has lost all common sense and faith in themselves. As predicted, the media has won another round with the spineless Republican voters and candidates.
The candidates not pounding the incumbent president on his record but rather pounding on each other. The voter reacting to the so called baggage (much unfounded or unproved) about a candidate, rather than their plans for the country, and eventually choosing the lesser of 6 evils. It’s de ja vu all over.
The GOP did this in 2008 and came up with John McCain. Now, John has endorsed Mitt. One loser endorsing another. One moderate wish-y wash-y candidate endorsing another. The media’s candidate won in Iowa, and will win in New Hampshire. It is 2008 all over again. Or is it insanity……the GOP voters doing the same thing over and over in hopes of a different outcome.
On November 7, 2012, when the headline reads: Obama Reelected, just reckon back to this page. Recall how the media and the spineless voters in the GOP chose John McCain again, in the form of Mitt Romney. Remember, and God help us all.

19th-Ranked Husker Women Host Indiana In Big Ten Home Debut

The 19th-ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team plays their first ever Big Ten Conference home game tonight, as they welcome Indiana to the Devaney Center. The Huskers served notice to the rest of the conference on their debut, as they knocked off then-number 16 Penn State on the road last Friday. That improved Nebraska’s record on the season to 12-1, and sophomore Jordan Hooper earned her second Big Ten Player of the Week honor this season thanks to her 31 point effort in the victory. The win boosted the Huskers up four spots in the most recent AP Top 25 poll. The Hoosiers enter tonight’s contest with a 5-10 record and are coming off a loss to Minnesota on Monday. They defeated the Huskers 67-61 last season in Bloomington. Tip off in Lincoln tonight is set for 7:05.

Broncos’ Dawkins Misses Wednesday Practice

The Denver Broncos are hopeful that they will have the services of their spiritual leader on defense for their first playoff game in six years. But safety Brian Dawkins again sat out practice yesterday with the same neck injury that has kept him out of all or part of the final four regular season games. The team continues to list Dawkins as day-to-day. Dawkins’ presence would be a major boost to a defense that will have added pressure on them in Sunday’s AFC Wild Card matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of the recent struggles of the team’s offense. After nine weeks of mostly turnover-free football, quarterback Tim Tebow has thrown five interceptions and lost a fumble in the last two weeks. The Broncos will be hosting their first playoff game since the 2005 AFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon.

Elderly man rams Lincoln DMV

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle’s drive-thru station in Lincoln has resumed operation, its power restored after a car crashed into the building.
The building lost power Tuesday when the car rammed it. Power was restored Tuesday night, and the office opened for business as usual on Wednesday.
Lincoln fire officials say an elderly man and woman drove close to the building, and then the driver mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.
The pair were taken to a Lincoln hospital but were expected to survive their injuries.

Neb. boy dies at day care

Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Lincoln authorities say a 1-year-old boy has died after being found unresponsive at his day care.
Police say Zachary Taylor was found about 3:30 p.m. by his day care provider, who told police she thought Zachary had been sleeping. Police spokeswoman Katie Flood says the woman called 911 and started CPR but could not revive the boy. He was  pronounced dead at a Lincoln hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Police have not released the name of the child care provider.
According to Flood, the boy’s parents say he wasn’t suffering from any major medical issues that they knew about.

Husker Men Blown Out Again

Nebraska’s third Big Ten conference game went exactly like the first two – outclassed by a ranked opponent. The Huskers never stood a chance in Columbus, as they were blown out by sixth-ranked Ohio State 71-40 last night. Nebraska led early, but the Buckeyes quickly surged out to a 13-point first half lead on the strength of a 17-2 run. Ohio State would get a three-pointer from All-American Jared Sullinger at the first-half buzzer to stretch their lead to 44-20 at the intermission. The Huskers never got closer than 23 in the second half as the Buckeyes cruised. Toney McCray led three Huskers in double figures with 13 points. Brandon Richardson added 11 and Bo Spencer chipped in 10. The Huskers as a whole shot just 31 percent from the field. The Huskers are now 8-6 and visit Illinois on Saturday.

Huskers Land Two Defensive Recruits

The day after their season came to an end with a loss in the Capital One Bowl, the Nebraska football program scored a couple of recruiting victories as a pair of defensive players announced their commitments.. Avery Moss, a defensive end from Tempe, Arizona, and Jared Afalava, a linebacker from South Jordan, Utah, both pledged commitments to the Huskers at the Semper Fidelis high school All-Star game in Phoenix. Moss, a 6’4”, 245-pounder who rates as three star recruit according to Rivals.com, attends the same high school as current Husker freshman defensive tackle Todd Peat. Afalava, a four-star prospect, chose Nebraska over offers from Oregon, Utah, and Washington. The commitments bring Nebraska’s current recruiting class of 2011 up to 11 players.
