Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. North northwest wind between 3 and 8 mph. 

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a northwest wind 6 to 9 mph increasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

 

…POWERFUL LATE WINTER STORM SYSTEM IMPACTS NEBRASKA… A UNIQUE AND SOMEWHAT RARE LATE WINTER STORM BROUGHT A POTPOURRI OF WEATHER TO WESTERN AND CENTRAL NEBRASKA. EARLIER IN THE DAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN PANHANDLE AND NORTHWESTERN NEBRASKA… AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE AND MIST COATED SURFACES WITH A THIN LAYER OF BLACK ICE. BEHIND THE COLD FRONT ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWESTERN NEBRASKA INTO THE NORTHERN SAND HILLS…MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW RESULTED IN ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 5 INCHES AS OF 9 PM CST. POWERFUL NORTHWEST WINDS HAVE RESULTED IN NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ACROSS PORTIONS OF CHERRY AND BROWN COUNTIES WITH SNOW STILL FALLING. AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT ACROSS THE WARM PORTION OF THE STORM SYSTEM…HEAVY RAIN FELL WITH STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. PEA SIZE HAIL COVERED ROADS NEAR MULLEN WITH WITH A TORNADO TOUCHDOWN JUST SOUTHWEST OF STAPLETON.
