Norfolk shooting suspect in custody in Stanton

STANTON, Neb. (AP) – Authorities say a suspect in the shooting of a woman in Norfolk has been taken into custody after a standoff at a mobile home in Stanton.
Authorities arrested 34-year-old Carlos Arevalo-Martinez Thursday evening. He’s wanted in the shooting of 33-year-old Edna Gutierrez.
She was shot in the head on Tuesday and is hospitalized in Omaha.
An arrest warrant was issued for Arevalo-Martinez for first-degree assault and a weapons charge.
Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says the mobile home was under surveillance for most of Thursday.
Several schools in Stanton were locked down and numerous residents of the trailer park were evacuated.
Stanton is 15 miles southeast of Norfolk.

State Wrestling Results, Day One

Nine wrestlers from Lincoln County schools advanced to the semifinal rounds after the first day of the state wrestling tournament in Omaha. Bulldogs Visit Lexington For Hardwood Clashes (Listen LIVE on ESPN Radio 1410)

Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, it’s North Platte Bulldog basketball. The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs begin the final weekend of the regular season with road games tonight in Lexington. The Lady Bulldogs have already seen the Minutemaids this season, defeating them in the GNAC tournament semifinals in December. This is the first meeting between the boys teams this season. The girls game tips off at 5:45 tonight, with the boys to follow at 7:30. ESPN Radio 1410’s coverage gets started at 5:30.

Irish, Panthers, Sailors Win Subdistrict Girls Basketball Titles

Three Lincoln County girls basketball teams took home subdistrict championships last night, moving them one step shy of a state tournament berth. The St. Patrick’s Lady Irish won their second consecutive C2-11 subdistrict crown with a 52-34 victory over Southern Valley. The fifth-ranked Lady Irish will play Perkins County in the C2-6 district final. In the C1-11 subdistrict title game, Hershey earned a 40-28 victory over Cozad. They’ll take on unbeaten Chadron in the C1-6 district final. In an all-Lincoln County subdistrict final, Sutherland defeated Maxwell 50-34 in the D1-11 subdistrict. They’ll play Sandhills/Thedford for the D1-6 district crown. In the D2-9 subdistrict championship game, Brady saw their season end with a 56-38 loss to Ansley.

Husker Baseball Opens Season Tonight

The Darin Erstad era officially begins today in Peoria, Arizona, as the Nebraska baseball team opens the 2012 season with the first game in a three-game set against Gonzaga. 14 new players join 17 returning letterwinners as the Huskers begin their first season as a member of the Big Ten. The Huskers will start sophomore left-hander Zach Hirsch on the mound against the Bulldogs. First pitch is scheduled for 8 PM.

Husker Women Lose Third Straight

The 16th ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team lost their third straight game last night, a 62-53 defeat to Northwestern at the Devaney Center. Jordan Hooper’s 19 points and nine rebounds led the Huskers in the defeat. The Big Red drop to 19-6 on the season and 8-5 in the Big Ten. They host Wisconsin on Sunday.

Daughtry will headline US Cellular Rock Show

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (North Platte Post) – NEBRASKAland Days Board President Lance Carlson made the announcement Thursday morning that Daughtry would headline this year’s US Cellular Summer Jam rock show.
Daughtry released their self-titled debut album in 2006 and have been lighting up the charts ever since with hits like “Leave This Town” and Crawling Back To You.”
The opening act for Daughtry has not yet been announced, but with Toby Keith on June 22nd and Daughtry now scheduled to play June 23rd, this year’s US Cellular Summer Jam series looks to bring great music and high-energy entertainment for everyone.

Less than two months after Vanessa filed for divorce from the NBA star, the two were spotted sharing a kiss at the Lakers vs. Hawks at the Staples Center. Vanessa sat down behind the Lakers bench– wearing red– in honor of Valentine’s Day interview, and showing off tons of cleavage. It was the first home game she has attended this season.

 

After the game, she was spotted kissing Kobe in the tunnel before waiting outside of the locker room.

Vanessa reportedly got $75 million and 3 mansions from Kobe in their divorce settlement. The divorce will not become final until mid June.
