Huskers Rally Past Cal For Series Split

The Nebraska baseball team used an eight-run fifth inning to earn a four-game series split with California with a 9-5 victory at Hawks Field yesterday afternoon. Pat Kelly hit a three-run triple and Josh Scheffert blasted a three-run homer, his first big fly of the season, as part of the big fifth inning rally that helped Nebraska overcome a 2-0 deficit. Bryan Peters and Michael Pritchard also drove in runs in that frame. Kash Kalkowski’s RBI single in the seventh provided an insurance run after the Golden Bears had scrapped back to make it an 8-5 game. Tyler Niederklein allowed four runs on seven hits in five and a third innings pitched to earn his first victory of the season in his first start of the season. The Huskers are now 10-6 on the season. They host South Dakota State this afternoon at 1:35.
