The Nebraska baseball team opened a four-game weekend series against Louisiana Tech by beating the Bulldogs 9-2 at Hawks Field yesterday afternoon. Rich Sanguinetti and Richard Stock drove in runs in a two-run fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie. The Huskers broke the game open in the eighth inning, when Cory Burleson hit a two-run, inside-the-park home run, and Chad Christensen hit one over the fence for a more traditional round-tripper, a two-run blast as well. Christensen went 3-5 and finished a triple shy of the cycle to lead the Husker charge. On the mound, Zach Hirsch worked five and a third innings for his second victory of the season. Brandon Pierce earned the save. The Huskers and Bulldogs are back at it this afternoon at 1:35, with the 12-6 Huskers sending Jon Keller to the mound in search of his third win.
