Juan Nicasio pitched effectively into the sixth inning and Troy Tulowitzki racked up three hits as the Colorado Rockies defeated the Cleveland Indians 6-3 in Cactus League action yesterday afternoon. Nicasio allowed two runs in his five and two-thirds innings, striking out six batters. Tulowitzki doubled and scored as part of a two-run first inning that gave the Rockies the lead for good. Chris Nelson, the new front-runner for the starting job at third base, hit a two-run double in the fourth inning. Wilin Rosario continued his strong spring as he bids for the backup catcher’s role, as he banged out a pair of hits. With one week left before Opening Day, the Rockies improved to 15-11 in the spring season with the win. They host the Texas Rangers tonight.
