Huskers Drop Game, Series at Northwestern

The Nebraska baseball team is still searching for their first conference road series win since 2008 after dropping the rubber game of their three-game series at Northwestern yesterday afternoon. The abnormally punchless Huskers managed just six hits in a 6-1 loss. Chad Christensen’s RBI groundout in the fourth inning tied the game, but other Husker rallies were snuffed out by Wildcat hurler Zach Morton, who went the distance for the win. Husker starter Zach Hirsch took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in five and two thirds innings. Nebraska won the opening game of the series on Friday, but made six errors in an 8-4 loss on Saturday. Sunday’s loss drops the Big Red to 19-11 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten conference. The Huskers visit Kansas State on Tuesday night.
