The Husker football team was back to the grind yesterday for the sixth of their allotted fifteen spring practices. The Big Red worked out for two hours outdoors to open the third week of spring ball. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck spoke to the media after the practice session and said he likes what he’s seen thus far.
“Those guys are very hard-working and loyal,” Beck said. “We don’t have to spend a lot of time going over everything; they are getting a better understanding of everything. They’re identifying the mistakes faster because they’ve gone through it and they know what I expect. It’s been a lot better. A night and day difference.”
Beck specifically credited quarterback Taylor Martinez for his hard work, confidence, and poise thus far in camp. “He looks like a different guy in the passing game,” Beck said. “He’s had good confidence, poise, presence in the pocket and footwork. Every now and then he resorts back to some things but I’ve been really pleased with what he’s been putting on film.”
The Huskers will take today off and return to the practice field on Wednesday.
