Morgan Freeman has denied rumors that he has ever had a romantic relationship with his 27-year-old step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines. According to TMZ.com, Freeman released a statement responding to reports that he and Himes have been dating for ten years and that they are planning to get married.

Freeman’s rap said that the actor remained mum on the rumors for years because he didn’t want to “dignify these stories by commenting,” but he now feels compelled to speak out since the reports were picked up by various mainstream media outlets.

• He said in a statement, “The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well.”
