The Colorado Rockies couldn’t make up for another shaky starting pitching performance in a 7-1 loss to the San Diego Padres at Coors Field last night. Jeremy Guthrie was able to give a tired bullpen some much needed rest by pitching seven innings for the Rox, but they were not effective ones, as he gave up six runs, including five in the first four innings, on nine hits. Meanwhile, Padres starting pitcher Cory Luebke cruised, allowing just one run in his seven innings of work. Tyler Colvin’s RBI single in the second inning produced the only Rockies offense. Game two of the three game series between the Padres and Rockies is tonight. Jamie Moyer takes the mound for the Rockies, opposed by San Diego’s Anthony Bass. ESPN Radio 1410 has all the action, with the pregame show getting underway at 7:05 and the first pitch at 7:40.
