Former Husker Dennard Released From Jail on Bond

Former Husker football player Alfonzo Dennard was released from jail Monday on $500 bond after being incarcerated over the weekend and hit with a felony charge of third-degree assault of a police officer. Dennard was arrested early Saturday morning on an accusation of punching a police officer in the face as the officer tried to break up an altercation outside of a downtown Lincoln bar at around 2:15 AM. It took four police officers to subdue and arrest Dennard, who had reportedly been in two other altercations that same night and been told twice by police to leave the downtown area. The All-Big Ten cornerback entered this week as a possible second or third round pick in the NFL Draft, which begins on Thursday night. Draft experts suspect this incident, the first such off-field incident for Dennard, could drop him at least one round in the draft.
