An embattled Colorado Rockies bullpen showed their mettle in working out of a major jam that preserved a victory last night, as the Rockies topped the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 at Coors Field. Two RBI apiece for Troy Tulowitzki and Ramon Hernandez and six strong innings from Juan Nicasio gave the Rockies a 5-2 lead into the seventh, but the Dodgers loaded the bases with nobody out. The bullpen came to the rescue, as Esmil Rogers struck out the league’s leading hitter Matt Kemp, Rex Brothers fanned Andre Ethier, and Edgmer Escalona got Juan Rivera to pop out to end the threat. The Rockies snap a two-game losing streak with the win. Game two of the series between the Rockies and Dodgers in Denver is tonight, and you can hear it here on ESPN Radio 1410, with pregame coverage at 7:05 and the first pitch at 7:40.
