AL PACINO INJURES EYE: Al Pacino was treated for an eye injury earlier this week on the set of Stand Up Guys, his upcoming action/comedy with Christopher Walken. The New York Post reported that medics had to attend to the 72-year-old actor after a gunfight scene — giving him eye drops and flushing out whatever was interfering with his vision.ZSA ZSA GABOR CONSERVATORSHIP CONTROVERSY: Prince Frederic von Anhalt has responded to his wife Zsa Zsa Gabor’s daughter, who wants to take over her mother’s conservatorship because she doesn’t trust her stepfather. TMZ.com reported that he filed a formal objection with the Superior Court of L.A., claiming Francesca is the worst person to take care of Zsa Zsa due to her “past conduct,” which includes an alleged assault on von Anhalt last year. Francesca alleges that her stepfather isolates and sedates Gabor regularly, however he maintains he does everything in his power to take care of his wife.

‘SEX AND THE CITY’ TOWNHOUSE HAS NEW OWNER: The famous Sex and the City townhouse is off the market. A mystery buyer purchased the West Village pad — featuring the famous stoop where Sarah Jessica Parker’s character often stood — for $9.85 million. The price was $200,000 more than it was listed for. The 4,100-square foot home features five bedrooms and six fireplaces.

KATE BOSWORTH ISN’T MARRIED: Kate Bosworth is not married. A rep for the actress shot downStar magazine’s report that Bosworth and her director boyfriend Michael Polish secretly tied the knot. Star had claimed the two “recently exchanged vows” in a “secret Buddhist commitment ceremony.”

KATHERINE HEIGL ADOPTS AGAIN: Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley have adopted a second daughter. A rep for the actress confirmed the news, but did not offer any other details. The couple adopted daughter Naleigh, now 3, back in 2009.

JACK OSBOURNE AND FIANCE WELCOME DAUGHTER: Jack Osbourne is a father. The former reality star and his fiance Lisa Stelly welcome a daughter named Pearl on Tuesday (April 24th). New grandma Sharon Osbourne tweeted after the birth, “Today I witnessed my first grandchild being born, life changing experience. She is an angel.”

KATIE HOLMES IS NOT PREGNANT: Contrary to rumors, Katie Holmes is not pregnant. After a tabloid reported on her supposed condition, a rep for Holmes said, “She is not pregnant. It’s [a weekly magazine report]. Why would they be a credible source? It’s the same publication she sued last year and won. It’s false. The [tabloid] lied as usual.”

TYRA TALKS ‘ANTM’ SHAKEUP: Tyra Banks says that firing her longtime staff on America’s Next Top Model was “difficult.” After axing her supposed friends, Tyra told Access Hollywood, “We reached a point where were feel the show needs a new boost. It’s very difficult because I love my guys — they’re my guys. My partner Ken Mok and I have projects we’re developing, and we’re a family — it doesn’t end.”

KATIE COURIC LAUNCHING WEB SERIES: Katie Couric is launching a weekly Web series. The TV personality, who has a new daytime show premiering in the fall, will also host “Katie’s Take” for Yahoo Inc. and ABC News in which she will discuss health, nutrition, parenting and wellness issues. The series will premiere Tuesday.

CW HAS LOWEST-RATED DRAMA: The CW set a new record — for the lowest-rated in-season broadcast drama debut on record. The show to earn this distinction was The L.A. Complex, drawing just 646,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in the adult demo.

Paxton woman dies in motorcycle accident

SUTHERLAND, Neb. (North Platte Post) – A 20-year old Paxton woman has died as a result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident Tuesday afternoon near Sutherland.
Rhiannon Peak succumbed to her injuries Tuesday evening. The driver of the motorcycle, 52-year old Vance Peak, also of Paxton, is being treated at Great Plains Regional Medical Center and is listed in stable condition with serious injuries.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Prairie Trace Road about ten miles north of Sutherland around a curve when Vance Peak lost control of the bike and it slid into a ditch. Both Vance and Rhiannon Peak were ejected from the motorcycle.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Both were wearing helmets.

 

 

I believe I requested a “care”giver…

PLEASANTON, Neb. (AP) – A 53-year-old man hired as a live-in caregiver for a 71-year-old south-central Nebraska woman has been accused of abusing and threatening her.
Authorities say Gary Buchanan is charged with felony abuse of a vulnerable adult and felony terroristic threats. Buchanan was arrested last week.
Authorities say Buchanan was hired to help the woman and moved into her home about nine months ago. On April 17 she reported that he was physically and verbally abusing her. She also told Buffalo County deputies that in the past, Buchanan put a gun to his head and said he was going to kill her and himself.
A Buffalo County jailer said Buchanan remained in custody on Wednesday, pending $50,000 bail. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

 

(Update) Fireman dies in truck accident in southern Nebraska

HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) – A man killed in an accident involving trucks at a railroad crossing in Hastings was the safety officer for the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department.
A pickup driven by 52-year-old Neal Sahling was struck by a truck that crossed over into his lane Tuesday morning. The Nebraska State Patrol says a truck had stopped at the railroad crossing. It was hit in the rear by a semitrailer, pushing it into Sahling’s pickup.
Wood River Fire Chief Todd King says the department is shocked and grieving the loss of Sahling, whose first concern was always safety.
Wood River is 30 about miles northwest of Hastings in south-central Nebraska.

 

Lincoln police investigating death of toddler

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Lincoln authorities say an autopsy has been scheduled on the body of a toddler.
Lincoln Police Capt. Jim Davidsaver said that police and firefighters were called to a Lincoln residence around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. They found the body of a child who appeared to be under 3 years old.
Police have not characterized the nature of the subsequent investigation. No arrests have been reported, and the names of those involved have not been released.
The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

 

Scottsbluff bank sees major changes

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) – About 400 employees of Aurora Bank in Scottsbluff have been given layoff notices.
They work for the Aurora Loan Services division that is being bought by a Lewisville, Texas-based mortgage company, Nationstar.
Aurora Bank FSB is a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers, which filed for bankruptcy in 2008.
Nationstar Executive Vice President says his company has talked to Aurora’s managers and supervisors and will be holding a job fair Wednesday and Thursday to talk to the rest of the employees. He says Nationstar intends to hire a significant number of the Aurora employees.
The purchase is expected to close May 31. The deal includes the Aurora Loan Services building.
