PETRA NEMCOVA DATING SEAN PENN? Petra Nemcova is reportedly finding solace in the arms of her ex-boyfriend Sean Penn in the wake of her broken engagement. The New York Post reported that the supermodel and Penn were spotted together just a week after it was reported that she’d called it quits with British actor Jamie Belman. A source told the Post, “Petra was all over him like crazy. She was rubbing his shoulders and rubbing his leg. She was hanging all over him. Sean looked like he was playing it cool. But they did leave the restaurant together.”

SIMON COWELL TALKS GAY RUMORS: Simon Cowell is trying to clear up the rumors about his sexuality once and for all. Simon told Tom Bower, the author of Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, “If I was gay, why wouldn’t I admit it? It wouldn’t harm me, and my mother wouldn’t freak out.” The book also claims that Simon had a secret romance with Dannii Minogue.

NOAH WYLE ARRESTED: Noah Wyle was arrested on Monday (April 23rd) along with more than 100 members of the group ADAPT during a Capitol Hill protest to urge Congress not to cut Medicaid. The protestors say that cuts in Medicaid spending would force people with disabilities and the elderly out of their homes and into nursing homes to get the services they need.

LINDSAY LOHAN OFFICIALLY SIGNS ON AS LIZ TAYLOR: Lindsay Lohan has officially landed the part of Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s original movie Liz & Dick. Although it’s been reported for months that she scored the part — it only just became official. Lifetime’s Executive Vice President, Programming, Rob Sharenow said, “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.” Lindsay released her own statement saying, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”

ASHLEY FINK DROPPED FROM ‘GLEE’: Ashley Fink has been dropped from Glee. The actress, who played plus-sized Lauren Zizes, confirmed to TheInsider.com that she’s done with the Fox series. Fink explained, “It is what it is. Lauren’s somewhere in that school, she’s just not on camera or being talked about. She’s involved in activities that aren’t televised.” She added that there are no hard feelings: “Glee is very much a fly by the seat of your pants [operation] in the way that best laid plans never quite come together. They have so many [characters] to take care of and I think once they made the decision that all these characters were going to graduate, it shifted the way this season was going to go.”

Former Husker Dennard Released From Jail on Bond

Former Husker football player Alfonzo Dennard was released from jail Monday on $500 bond after being incarcerated over the weekend and hit with a felony charge of third-degree assault of a police officer. Dennard was arrested early Saturday morning on an accusation of punching a police officer in the face as the officer tried to break up an altercation outside of a downtown Lincoln bar at around 2:15 AM. It took four police officers to subdue and arrest Dennard, who had reportedly been in two other altercations that same night and been told twice by police to leave the downtown area. The All-Big Ten cornerback entered this week as a possible second or third round pick in the NFL Draft, which begins on Thursday night. Draft experts suspect this incident, the first such off-field incident for Dennard, could drop him at least one round in the draft.

Huskers Hope For Rebound Against Blue Jays in Omaha

Last weekend was a disappointing one for the Husker baseball team, as they dropped two out of three to Purdue at home. The Huskers hope to get back on track starting tonight, as they make the short trek to Omaha for their second meeting of the year against Creighton. The Big Red knocked off the Blue Jays 5-3 at Hawks Field in their first meeting two Tuesday’s ago. Creighton has struggled mightly this season to the tune of a 15-18 overall record, while the Huskers dropped to 26-15 on the season Righty Ryan Hander, who has made ten relief appearances this season and owns a 1.35 ERA, will make the first start of his career tonight. He’ll be opposed by Creighton’s Nick Musec, who took the loss in the first meeting between these teams this year. First pitch at TD Ameritrade Park is set for 6:30.

Rockies Open Series in Pittsburgh Tonight (LISTEN LIVE on ESPN Radio 1410)

Yesterday’s Colorado Rockies game in Pittsburgh was postponed due to a snowstorm that came through the Northeast. The game has been rescheduled as part of a double-header on Wednesday, to be played 30 minutes after the originally scheduled afternoon contest that day. Tonight, the weather is expected to be better so that the Rockies and Pirates can open their three-game series at PNC Park. 49 year-old lefty Jamie Moyer takes the mound for the Rockies for his first start since he became the oldest pitcher in major league history to win a game when he went seven innings to beat the Padres in Denver last Tuesday. He’ll be opposed by Pittsburgh right-hander Kevin Correia. ESPN Radio 1410 will have the action from the Steel City tonight. Pregame coverage gets underway at 5:30, with the first pitch at 6:05.

(Update) Human remains found near South Platte River

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) – Lincoln County authorities are trying to identify the remains of a person found along the South Platte River.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department says a skeleton was found Friday afternoon by a man hunting mushrooms about a half-mile west of U.S. Highway 83.
Investigators have determined that it is a human skeleton but not the sex or age of the person. No identification documents were found at the scene.
Sheriff Jerome Kramer says the area is frequented by homeless people who often set up camps underneath a nearby bridge.
It’s unclear whether the person died of natural causes, suicide or was a crime victim. An autopsy was scheduled.

 

Property taxes paid? Better get busy…

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (North Platte Post) – According to statute in a news release from the Lincoln County Treasurer’s Office, 1st half 2011 real estate and personal property taxes are delinquent on May 1st, 2012. Interest at the rate of 14% will accrue.
