Late Rally Falls Short for Rockies in Sixth Straight Defeat (LISTEN LIVE TONIGHT on ESPN Radio 1410)

The Colorado Rockies scored early and scored late, but did not score enough in a 7-6 loss to the Miami Marlins last night. For the second straight night the Rockies jumped on the Marlins early, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. But the lead only lasted three frames, as the Marlins touched up Rockies starting pitcher Juan Nicasio for six runs in his five innings of work. Trailing 7-4 in the eighth, the Rockies pushed two runs across, and got the leadoff runner aboard in the ninth inning with the heart of the order due up, but Todd Helton struck out looking to end the game. The beatings go on for the Rockies, who have lost six in a row and fifteen of eighteen. The Rockies and Marlins conclude their three-game series in Miami tonight. ESPN Radio 1410 has the game for you, with pregame coverage at 5:30 and first pitch at 6:10.
