Rockies Sweep Doubleheader From Astros

Late-inning heroics gave the Colorado Rockies a doubleheader sweep of the Houston Astros at Coors Field yesterday. In the opener, after a 5-2 lead had slipped away, Jordan Pacheco’s two-run single with two out in the eighth inning broke a tie and gave the Rockies a 9-7 win. The nightcap needed extra innings before Dexter Fowler decided it in the tenth. The center fielder’s RBI triple that scored Michael Cuddyer for a 7-6 Rockies triumph. The game-winning hit was a fitting capper to a standout day for Fowler, who went 7-for-9 in the two games with a triple, a home run, three RBI and five runs scored. Though Rockies starters struggled in both games, the bullpen allowed just one run in eight total innings. The Rockies and Astros are off today before finishing off their four-game series in Denver. Game three of the series is tomorrow night.
