KELLY CLARKSON BELIEVES IN FUNCTION: Kelly Clarkson says she won’t be caught wearing something on stage that she’s not completely comfortable with. Kelly admitted that though stilettos look nice — when it comes to competition, the fashion needs to match the confidence of the performer. She said, “Not only can the music be formulaic, but the attire can be formulaic. Just like music, with style there is room for everything and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is that person’s thing. I don’t want to wear no stiletto. I am not a model and I am not Beyonce. It is not going to happen.”

JESSICA SIMPSON PICKS MAXWELL’S GODMOTHER: According to E!Jessica Simpson has choosen CaCee Cobb to be her daughter, Maxwell’s, godmother. CaCee and Jessica have been good friends for many years. She was originally Jessica’s personal assistant. CaCee is currently engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Donald Faison.

HARRY STYLES DID NOT PUNCH PAPARAZZO: One Direction’s Harry Styles is defending himself against accusations that he punched a paparazzo at the Men In Black III premiere last week in New York City. Harry told teen magazine J-14 that he definitely did not punch anyone. One Direction just began their US tour in Connecticut this week.

NO DOUBT PERFORMING AT TEEN CHOICE AWARDS: No Doubt have reportedly been confirmed as performers that the Teen Choice Awards on MTV in July. The band tweeted, “You may have heard the rumors… and yes, we will be performing on the Teen Choice Awards in July!!!”

HOLIDAY WEEKEND MOVIE WRAP-UP
Men in Black 3 claimed the box office crown over the four-day holiday weekend with a $70 million take, booting The Avengers, the top movie for the previous three weeks, which fell to second place, although still taking in $46.9 million.

 Men in Black 3, the third film in the MIB franchise, reunites Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as their alien-fighting characters for the first time since 2002. Co-starring is Josh Brolin as a younger Agent K — Jones’ character — who’s targeted for death in the late 1960s by a time-traveling alien, a plot Smith’s character goes back in time to stop. Emma Thompson also co-stars.

The weekend’s only other new wide release was the horror flick Chernobyl Diaries, which debuted at Number 6. Starring a cast of largely unknown young actors, it follows a group of six tourists who hire an “extreme tour” guide and ignore warnings to go to the deserted city of Pripyat, the former home of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor workers. There they end up stranded and discover they’re not alone

  • This Memorial Day weekend was the slowest at theaters in more than a decade. Hollywood.comestimates that overall receipts for the four days will finish at $190 million, the lowest since Memorial Day weekend in 2001.

An insider told the site, “They really have no problem with each other; it has been a long time.”PHILLIP PHILLIPS GIVES CAR TO PARENTS: Phillip Phillips reportedly celebrated his America Idolvictory by giving his parents the new 2013 Ford Fusion he won on the show. TMZ.com reported that Phillips is happy to continue driving his 2001 Ford Ranger truck and doesn’t want to part with it.

NEW MAN FOR JENNY MCCARTHY: Jenny McCarthy is going public with her new beau, Chicago Bears star Brian UrlacherRadarOnline.com reported that the two have been dating for about a month and are routinely spotted out around Chicago. McCarthy, 39, recently revealed that she shot a nude pictorial that will be featured in Playboy’s July/August double issue.

JESSICA LOWENDES REPORTEDLY DATING ATHLETE: 90210 star Jessica Lowndes is reportedly dating former Olympian Jeremy Bloom. The 30-year-old competed for the U.S. ski team in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics and has also played for two NFL teams: the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lowndes, 23, has previously been linked to her co-star Adam Gregory and Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul.

JENNA JAMESON ARRESTED DUI: Former porn star Jenna Jameson was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Friday (May 25th). The AP reported that Jameson, 38, was taken into custody after hitting a light pole with her car. She reportedly suffered minor injuries but refused treatment. Jameson has since been released from custody.

TED ALLEN OUTS COWORKER: Ted Allen accidental outed his fellow Food Network star Anne Burrellduring a recent interview. During the chat, Allen stated, “I am not going to put a label on Anne, but she is dating a woman right now.” Burrell’s rep then confirmed the relationship, saying, “Anne doesn’t feel she was outed. She has made no secret of her relationship. Her significant other is a very private woman. They have been together for a couple of years and spend a lot of time together. It is no secret in the culinary world.”

 

GORDON RAMSAY AND WILL FERRELL INJURED: Gordon Ramsay and Will Ferrell were both injured during a celebrity soccer match in London over the weekend. Ramsay left the field on a stretcher with an oxygen mask over his face after colliding with retired English player Teddy Sheringham. He was briefly hospitalized but later tweeted, “Out of hospital after receiving amazing care from medics at ground & hospital. Bit sore but fine.” Ferrell was forced to leave the game after hurting his leg.MALIN ACKERMAN CAST IN ‘CBGB’: Malin Ackerman will reportedly play Debbie Harry, the lead singer of Blondie, in the new movie, CBGBAlan Rickman has already been cast as Hilly Kristal, the man who owned and operated CBGB for over 30 years. Rickman’s Harry Potter costar Rupert Grint, has reportedly also signed on to play a “punk guitarist.”

CANNES WINNER REVEALED: Director Michael Haneke won the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize for his movie, Amour. The film features an elderly couple — played by two French acting icons — who are coping with the wife’s worsening health. Haneke said he made the film because “I experienced something in my family that touched me.”

Rockies Sweep Doubleheader From Astros

Late-inning heroics gave the Colorado Rockies a doubleheader sweep of the Houston Astros at Coors Field yesterday. In the opener, after a 5-2 lead had slipped away, Jordan Pacheco’s two-run single with two out in the eighth inning broke a tie and gave the Rockies a 9-7 win. The nightcap needed extra innings before Dexter Fowler decided it in the tenth. The center fielder’s RBI triple that scored Michael Cuddyer for a 7-6 Rockies triumph. The game-winning hit was a fitting capper to a standout day for Fowler, who went 7-for-9 in the two games with a triple, a home run, three RBI and five runs scored. Though Rockies starters struggled in both games, the bullpen allowed just one run in eight total innings. The Rockies and Astros are off today before finishing off their four-game series in Denver. Game three of the series is tomorrow night.

First Nationals Seniors, Juniors Play Twin-Bills Today

The North Platte First Nationals seniors travel to Fort Morgan, Colorado this afternoon for a doubleheader. The First Nationals are looking to build on a strong 5-2 start to their season. Over the Memorial Day weekend, they went 2-1 at a tournament in Gering, beating Chadron 8-4 and Sidney 12-0 on Saturday before falling to the hosts 11-6 in their final game on Sunday. Tonight’s double-dip is the first of four for the First Nationals this week, with games scheduled Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The first game of today’s doubleheader is set for 3 PM. The First Nationals juniors are also in action today, and also face Fort Morgan in a twin-bill. The juniors went 1-3 over the weekend in the tournament they hosted at Bill Wood Field, dropping their record to 3-4 on the campaign.

Jays Head West to Los Angeles for NCAA Baseball Regional

The 64-team field for the NCAA Division I baseball tournament was set yesterday, and the Cinderella run of the Creighton Blue Jays will continue in Los Angeles. The Blue Jays, surprise winners of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, are the fourth seed in the UCLA region. They’ll match up with the Bruins, who are the number two national seed, in their tournament opener on Friday night. Creighton is making their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, and their tenth appearance overall. They are one of two teams who qualified for the national tournament with a losing record. The Blue Jays entered their conference tournament as the eighth overall seed, but swept through with a 4-0 record, beating Missouri State in the championship game. Missouri State and Indiana State also qualified to the tournament from the Valley.

Hacked University of Nebraska Database Included Personal Data of Employees, Parents of Students

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The University of Nebraska student and alumni database that was hacked last week included personal data of system employees and parents of students who applied for financial aid. NU spokeswoman Melissa Lee said Sunday that possible exposure of personal data belonging to employees and the students’ parents was discovered only recently. The university announced Friday that someone had breached security and reached the database of more than 650,000 student and alumni records. Officials say there’s no evidence the information was downloaded. The data includes bank account information for as many as 30,000 students, along with the Social Security numbers, addresses, housing and financial aid information, grades and transcripts of hundreds of thousands of others. The system includes information for all four system campuses.

Stolen SUV Found… FOUR Years Later

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A sport utility vehicle reported stolen nearly four years ago in Central City has been found about 25 miles away, submerged in a Grand Island lake. Authorities say a member of the Grand Island dive rescue team was practicing on the east side of L.E. Ray Lake when he spotted the SUV in about 15 feet of water about 30 feet from shore. The SUV was pulled from the lake and taken to the police impound lot on Sunday. The keys were still in the ignition. It had been reported stolen on June 7, 2008. The 73-acre lake is in a city park just north of U.S. Highway 34.
