Rockies Pitch Season’s First Shutout (LISTEN LIVE TONIGHT on ESPN Radio 1410)

Three Colorado Rockies pitchers combined for the team’s first shutout of the season as the Rockies opened their series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks with a 4-0 victory last night. Christian Friedrich went the first seven innings, scattering four hits on his way to earning his fourth victory of his rookie season. Matt Belisle worked a scoreless eighth and Adam Ottavino finished the shutout off in the ninth. At the plate the Rockies were sparked by Wilin Rosario, who hit his ninth home run of the season and drove in a pair of runs. Marco Scutaro also had an RBI in the victory. The Rockies have now won seven of their last eight games. They face the Diamondbacks again tonight at Chase Field.
