Husker second baseman Pat Kelly was picked for first-team honors on the National College Baseball Writers Association’s Freshman All-American Team. Kelly batted .313 with eight home runs and 37 RBI for the Huskers this past season. He’s the first Husker to be named to the NCBWA’s Freshman All-American team since it was established in 2008. Kelly was also named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, making him the first Husker to be so honored by two different sources since Johnny Dorn in 2005.
