Murder charge in Cold Case dropped

WAHOO, Neb. (AP) — A murder charge in a Nebraska cold case has been dropped for now.

Local media reports that Saunders County Attorney Scott Tingelhoff filed a motion on Monday to dismiss the charge against Jeffrey Glazebrook.

Glazebrook was convicted in 2009 for the 1977 murder of 97-year-old Sadie May McReynolds, of Ashland. But the Nebraska Supreme Court reversed the conviction last year, saying among other things that the trial judge shouldn’t have allowed evidence of Glazebrook’s previous crimes.

Tingelhoff says he dropped the murder charge to ensure that Glazebrook wouldn’t evade prosecution because of any time delay. The murder charge will be refiled after Glazebrook is tried in August on charges that he threatened a witness at his 2009 trial.
