McCook cowboy Garrett Nokes has made his short trek north to the Buffalo Bill Rodeo worth it through the first two nights of competition. Nokes had the fastest time in team roping on the first night, and Thursday, he posted the fastest time of the night in steer wrestling at 3.9 seconds, good for a tie for fourth overall. Event leaders on the second day were Clint Cooper of Decatur, TX in tie-down roping; Heath Ford of Slocum, Texas in bareback riding; Cole Elshere from Faith, South Dakota in saddle bronc; South Dakotans Scott White and Jade Nelson in team roping; Mary Walker of Ennis, Texas in barrel racing; Shawn Coleman of Springfield, South Dakota in bull riding, and a tie between Beau Clarke of Belgrade and Bray Armes of Gruver, Colorado in steer wrestling.
