LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Kings paraded the Stanley Cup through downtown Los Angeles yesterday, celebrating the first NHL championship in the club’s 45-year history. L.A. completed their playoff run to the title Monday night by eliminating the New Jersey Devils.
SEATTLE (AP) – Edinson Volquez pitched effectively into the seventh inning and the San Diego Padres handed the Seattle Mariners their fifth straight loss, 6-2 last night. The M’s are 0-5 since six pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter against the Dodgers on June 1, and they’ve played all of those games in their home ballpark.
