CWS: Wade’s Pitching Brilliance Has Arizona One Win From Title

Game One of the College World Series final went to the Arizona Wildcats in decisive fashion. Konnor Wade tossed his second complete game gem of the series as the Wildcats knocked off the two-time defending champions South Carolina 5-1 in Omaha. Wade baffled the Gamecocks, allowing just six hits and striking out three. He became the first pitcher to throw multiple complete games in the same College World Series since Cal State-Fullerton’s Jason Windsor did it in 2004. Offensively, Arizona was sparked by Robert Refsnyder, whose two-run homer in the first gave Wade all the support he’d need. Alex Mejia, Seth Mejias-Brean, and Bobby Brown also drove in runs for Arizona. Game two is scheduled for 7 PM tonight. A Wildcats victory would bring them their first national championship in 26 years.
