The eleventh different starting pitcher to take the mound for the Colorado Rockies this season met a familiar fate in an 11-5 loss to the Washington Nationals at Coors Field last night. Edwar Cabrera, called up from AA to make his major league debut, was knocked out of the game in the third inning after giving up seven runs on five hits, including three home runs. The Rockies and Nationals each had 14 hits, but until scoring two runs apiece in the eighth and ninth innings, the Rockies were never competitive in the game. Marco Scutaro drove in a pair of runs and Carlos Gonzalez added two hits and an RBI to highlight the Rockies’ offensive output.
