HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — A central Nebraska family is thankful to have their dog back after the beagle spent about 36 hours trapped in a sink hole.
Local media that Buddy had gone out for a run with a cattle dog Friday morning, but failed to return by that night.
A thunderstorm swept the area overnight, leading owners Seth and Kim Krueger of rural Hastings to fear the worst.
Then, late Saturday, a faint bark led the family to Buddy — trapped in a sink hole about 100 yards from their home. The dog was muddy and frightened, but uninjured.
The Kruegers believe Buddy likely had company during his ordeal. A neighbor says the cattle dog spent Friday in one spot near the Krueger’s house until his owner picked him up.
