LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Treasurer’s office is holding a series of outreach events to help residents search for unclaimed property.

State Treasurer Don Stenberg announced Wednesday that members of his staff will visit fairs and festivals throughout Nebraska starting in July. Staff members plan to visit events in Seward, Madison, Grand Island, Nebraska City, Omaha and Kearney.

Stenberg says the state is holding more than $100 million worth of property for more than 350,000 Nebraskans, former Nebraskans or their heirs.

The average claim is about $450, and the largest single claim paid last year was $168,000. The two largest single claims paid so far this year were about $199,000 and $254,000.

The full list of events is available at the treasurer’s website, www.treasurer.org.
