Nebraska village receives money to replace water lines

AVOCA, Neb. (AP) — The eastern Nebraska village of Avoca has been awarded $718,000 to replace all of its water lines.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development made the award, which will be combined with $40,000 from the village.

The money comes from the USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.

A USDA spokeswoman says $556,000 of the total will be a loan to Avoca, and the remaining $162,000 will be a grant.
