Scottsbluff man impersonating an officer gets locked up

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — A western Nebraska man faces jail time after pleading guilty to impersonating a police officer.

Twenty-five-year-old Bobby O’Reiley, of Mitchell, was arrested after officials say he tried to pull over a car on Interstate 80 near Sidney earlier this month.

Local media says O’Reiley pleaded guilty on Monday in Cheyenne County Court. He faces up to a year in a jail when he sentenced on Aug. 13.

Authorities say a motorist called the Nebraska State Patrol and reported a driver was tailgating another car, flashing the headlights and showing a badge of some sort.

The patrol says a trooper stopped the car and found O’Reiley had a security badge, a handgun and two cans of mace.
