Clay Center Man to be Deported after Credit Card Fraud

CLAY CENTER, Neb. (AP) — A 38-year-old Sutton man has been given two to four years in prison after making a plea deal.

The Hastings Tribune says Ebenezer Okyere pleaded guilty to criminal possession of four or more financial transaction devices. In return, prosecutors dropped theft and two more charges.

Okyere, also known as Ebenezer Christ, is a native of Ghana who moved to this country in May 2011. He’ll be deported after he leaves Nebraska custody.

The Sutton Police Department arrested Okyere in December to face allegations that he had been using stolen credit card data to make online purchases.

Lincoln man pleads no contest accused of shooting brother in law

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A 26-year-old man Lincoln man accused of shooting his estranged wife’s brother has pleaded no contest to reduced charges.

Local Media reports that Mamo Khalaf had been charged with attempted murder. On Tuesday he pleaded no contest to assault, a weapons charge and a threats charge.

Khalaf’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 17.

Murder charge in Cold Case dropped

WAHOO, Neb. (AP) — A murder charge in a Nebraska cold case has been dropped for now.

Local media reports that Saunders County Attorney Scott Tingelhoff filed a motion on Monday to dismiss the charge against Jeffrey Glazebrook.

Glazebrook was convicted in 2009 for the 1977 murder of 97-year-old Sadie May McReynolds, of Ashland. But the Nebraska Supreme Court reversed the conviction last year, saying among other things that the trial judge shouldn’t have allowed evidence of Glazebrook’s previous crimes.

Tingelhoff says he dropped the murder charge to ensure that Glazebrook wouldn’t evade prosecution because of any time delay. The murder charge will be refiled after Glazebrook is tried in August on charges that he threatened a witness at his 2009 trial.

Guthrie Shelled… Again. Rockies Lose… Again. (LISTEN LIVE TONIGHT on ESPN Radio 1410)

It’s a script the Colorado Rockies have followed far too many times. A promising offensive start and a big early lead went to waste thanks to horrendous starting pitching in an 8-5 loss to the Oakland A’s at Coors Field. Tyler Colvin’s leadoff home run sparked a four-run first inning for the Rockies, but their lead disappeared in a hurry when Jeremy Guthrie allowed six runs in the third inning and one more in the fifth. Guthrie’s already abysmal ERA soared to 6.91, and he allowed three more home runs to bring his National League-leading total in that category to 15. Todd Helton’s solo blast in the fifth inning was the only offense the Rockies could muster after their first-inning outburst. The loss is the Rockies’ sixth in a row. They’ll try and snap it against the A’s tonight, in a game you can hear on ESPN Radio 1410, with pregame coverage at 7:05 and first pitch at 7:40.

Yori had previously received a three-year extension after leading the Huskers to their best season in school history in 2010. Yori will enter her eleventh season as head coach this winter.
