Missing Nebraska Mother and Son Found Strangled

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Police say a Nebraska mom who disappeared last month with her son strangled the 10-year-old boy before strangling herself in the woods of an Iowa state park.

Council Bluffs police said Monday that 41-year-old Charlotte Schilling, of Plattsmouth, Neb. and her son, Owen, both died with plastic zip ties around their necks.

The Schillings were missing from May 10 until their bodies were found May 20 in Lake Manawa State Park, south of Council Bluffs in western Iowa, about 20 miles north of Plattsmouth.

Council Bluffs police say Charlotte Schilling tried to commit suicide with a plastic zip tie in November, but a family member intervened.

Friends told investigators that Schilling’s recent behavior was consistent with someone contemplating suicide.

If you know someone showing signs of suicide please call the Suicide Hotline at 1-800-Suicide

JASON ALEXANDER APOLOGIZES FOR CRICKET COMMENTS: Jason Alexander has apologized for calling the sport of cricket “gay” during an appearance on Friday on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. On the show, Alexander joked that cricket isn’t played on a “a manly baseball pitch,” but rather “a queer British gay pitch.” After his comment caused a stir, Alexander released a “message of amends” on Twitter. He wrote, “I was basing my use of the word ‘gay,’ on the silly generalization that real men don’t do genteel, refined things and that my portrayal of the cricket pitch was pointedly effeminate, thereby suggesting that effeminate and gay were synonymous.” He concluded, “So, I can only apologize and I do… I hope my realization brings some comfort.”

OCTOMOM IS STRIPPING: Octomom is now a stripper. TMZ.com reported that Nadya Suleman will be doing two shows a night at T’s Lounge in West Palm Beach, FL from July 11-15. Jays Eliminated from NCAA Tournament in Regional Final

The Creighton Blue Jays ultimately ran out of pitching, and thus ran out of magic. They lost to UCLA 13-5 in the regional final on Sunday night in Los Angeles, ending their surprising run into the NCAA baseball tournament. After falling to the Bruins 3-0 in the opener on Friday night, the Jays survived two elimination games. They pounded San Diego 8-2 on Saturday night, and then eased past New Mexico 7-2 on Sunday afternoon to get into the final. Creighton even struck first against the number two overall national seed with two runs in the first inning. But UCLA struck back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, and then scored five more in the fourth to put the Jays into a hole they could not climb out of. The Missouri Valley Conference champion Blue Jays end their season with a record of 28-30.
