(Lincoln County Raceway Press Release)The IMCA racing action was jam-packed and fierce at the Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, Nebraska on Saturday. Avoiding all incidents and taking the checkered flag to win their respective feature events during Veteran’s Night at the races were: Andrew Dillenburg, Shane Stout, Casey Werkmeister, Austin Davis and Jose Sabala.
Getting up on the wheel and finding a fast groove from his fourth row starting position, heat race winner Andrew Dillenburg of North Platte, took the lead in the IMCA Modified feature at the halfway point and ran off and hid at the front of the field to win. Pacing the field from the onset until lap eight was Josh Sabin of North Platte. Sabin held his position after being passed by Dillenburg and took home runner-up honors. Brady Bullet Dave Pedersen showcased consistency and stellar skills on the wheel to finish in the show position. Heat race winner Ronnie Wallace of McCook and Zach Schultz of North Platte rounded out your top five finishers in fourth and fifth in the Feature event.
Holding off all charges and persevering through the cautions, North Platte’s Shane Stout was in the zone as he powered to the Feature victory in the IMCA Northern Sport Mods division. Stout garnered the lead from fifth row starting position on the fifth lap and never looked back. Heat race winner Jeremy Halouska of North Platte led the initial two laps, before relinquishing the lead to Robby Kosmacek of North Platte. Kosmacek held ship and finished in second place in the feature. Charging forward from the back of the field with the assistance of the caution flags that bunched the field, heat race winner Bryan Herrick of Curtis finished third. Avoiding incidents and staying heavy on the loud pedal throughout, Corey Cruzan of North Platte and Atkinson’s Brandon Poessnecker finished fourth and fifth in the Northern Sport Mod feature. Rodger Morash of North Platte had early success on Saturday in winning a heat race.
Racing with gumption and grasping the early lead powered Maywood’s Casey Werkmeister to win the IMCA Stock Car feature, despite the challenges from contenders on his back bumper from Mike Nichols of Harlan, Iowa and Ronnie Wallace of McCook. Werkmeister won the initial heat race to setup his win the feature, where he started in the fourth row of the grid. In Werkmeister’s rearview mirror for much of the feature was runner-up finisher Mike Nichols and third place driver Ronnie Wallace. Displaying great throttle control the whole night, heat race winner Kyle Werkmeister of Maywood drove from his fourth row starting position to fourth overall. Gothenburg’s Jeff Whiting stayed consistent to drive his Chevy Lumina to a top five position in fifth place.
Going back to what worked before, Austin Davis of Benkelman pulled off a clean sweep in the IMCA Hobby Stocks division. Davis was the class of the field in the heat race and feature, driving away with victories in both events. Leading the way from lap five to the finish, Davis passed early leader Brady Weinman of Arnold, who lead from the drop of the green flag through the fourth lap. In the closing laps of the Feature, Weinman relinquished the runner-up position to Chuck Ledbetter of Loomis who would claim the second place accolades as a result of his great consistency. Weinman was forced to settle for third place overall. Rounding out the top five finishers in the Hobby Stock feature was Rick Eller and Andrew Baumgardner, both of North Platte in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Continuing his undefeated record of victories, North Platte’s Jose Sabala paced the field to win the IMCA Sport Compact Feature. Sabala piloted his Dodge Neon rocketship to win the heat race and the cash dash in earlier night racing action. Les Brogdon of North Platte stayed heavy on the gas pedal to finish as the runner-up in the heat race and the Feature.
