LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Officials in Lincoln say they want to develop Nebraska’s capital city into a hub for sculptures, statues and other public art.

A team of art enthusiasts, city officials and funders is devising a master plan to help the city accomplish that goal.

The group has targeted the Interstate 180 corridor, Antelope Valley and the downtown as potential locations for the art. Members are looking to acquire a collection of national prominence.

The group, which is part of the Lincoln Community Foundation, has already bought a 20-foot tall, $100,000 statue by Albert Paley with private money. It will go in an undetermined spot in 2014.
