Connie Carol Neal

Connie Carol Neal, 63, of North Platte, NE died Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK.

Connie was born April 8, 1949, to Samuel Benjamin and Leora Ella German Hasbrouck at Ogallala, NE. She grew up in Ogallala, Potter and North Platte where she attended North Platte High School.

On January 23, 1968, Connie married Eugene Charles Neal at North Platte and they divorced in 1993. She later met Don Hood and they became companions.

Connie worked at the Cedar Bowl as a cook and volunteered with the Youth Bowling Program. She also worked at Kmart and Shopko as a sales associate. She received her 15 Year Clock from Shopko in 2011.

Connie was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #1504 and was an avid bowler. She held many office positions with the Women’s Bowling Association. She was also involved in a Bunco Club. Connie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, painting ceramics, playing cards and crocheting.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Mindy (James) Schmadeke, of North Platte; two sons, Maj. Martin Neal, of Lincoln, NE and Mason Neal (special friend, Mandy Thompson), of North Platte; two sisters, Vina Shaw, of North Platte and Violet ‘Vicki’ Lucido, of California; a brother, Virgil (Phyllis) Beavers, of North Platte; her sister-in-law, Pauline Laflan, of Brule, NE; four grandchildren, Taylor, Skyler and Logan Schmadeke and Maesa Neal; her aunts, Jean Yonker and Almina German, both of North Platte; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Leora; her sister, Esther Summers; a brother, William ‘Chubbie’ Laflan; and her special friend, Don Hood.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Pastor Terry Brokaw of the Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. The family has established a memorial. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore.
