Actress Kristin Chenoweth “Knocked Out Cold”

Actress Kristin Chenoweth was hospitalized Wednesday after getting smacked by falling lighting equipment on the Brooklyn set of the CBS drama “The Good Wife.”

Chenoweth, 43, was “knocked out cold” after getting hit “square in the head. I thought she was dead at first,” the witness said, adding that she slammed her head on concrete during her fall.

“That area is a vortex for wind … and a big gust of wind blew the lighting off the scaffolding,” the witness added.

An FDNY spokesman told The Daily News paramedics responded to North 6th St. and Kent Ave. in Williamsburg about 5:05 p.m. after receiving a report that a woman was hit by scaffolding.

The spokesman did not identify the victim by name, but said she was transported to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries.
“The Good Wife” star Josh Charles was spotted rushing into the hospital Wednesday night.
Chenoweth’s publicist and manager did not return requests for comment. Calls to CBS reps also went unreturned.

A Bellevue hospital spokeswoman confirmed that Chenoweth — who has won an Emmy and Tony award — was receiving treatment there.

Wednesday Sports Wrap – Freeh Report Confirms Paterno, Other PSU Officials Lied

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Former FBI director Louis Freeh  has released results of the investigation into Penn State’s role in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse affair, and it is not kind to higher-ups at the school. According to the report, Penn State senior leaders, including football coach Joe Paterno, disregarded the safety and welfare Sandusky’s victims. The Nittany Lions’ former assistant football coach has been convicted of 45 counts and is awaiting sentencing.

Freeh says the most “saddening and sobering” finding from his group’s report into the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal is Penn State senior leaders’ “total disregard” for the safety and welfare of the ex-coach’s child victims.

He says that the “most powerful men at Penn State failed” to take any steps for 14 years, calling out Paterno, ex-President Graham Spanier, athletic director Tim Curley and former senior vice president Gary Schultz.

The investigation concluded that the senior officials “concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky’s child abuse” because they were worried about bad publicity.

Sandusky is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of 45 criminal counts. The scandal led to the ouster of Paterno and Spanier.

Delays for coach arrested for possession

SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) — Sentencing is delayed for a former assistant high school football coach in Sidney on drug charges.

Robert Lewis was charged last November after the Nebraska State Patrol found marijuana and hashish in his car during a traffic stop in Sidney. Troopers had been tipped that he was transporting drugs.

Lewis pleaded guilty in May to two drug possession charges.

Lewis’ sentencing, which had been set for Thursday, was reset for Aug. 8. Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says the delay is to complete a pre-sentence investigation.

Lewis had been on the Sidney High School coaching staff for ten years. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
